According to the Ria Novosti News Agency, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak, chairman of the Iran-Russia Joint Economic Committee, told a meeting in Moscow that the two neighboring countries should work to raise the level trade with national currencies.

Novak noted that trade between Russia and Iran reached $ 1.7 billion in 2017. According to him, there are still outstanding issues that need to be addressed, including the use of national currencies in future exchanges, as well as accounting, which plays an important role in commercial management.

At the end of the meeting, he also announced that the Islamic Republic of Iran would continue to export oil to the Russian Federation in 2018, trying to maintain the current volume of five million tons of oil. per year.

In November 2017, Russia received one million barrels of Iranian oil for goods exported to Iran.

For his part, Iran’s Minister of Economy and Finance, Massoud Karbassian, who also holds the Iranian presidency of the joint commission, said that his country would use all the means at its disposal to send a second oil tanker to Russia on as soon as possible.

50% of the income from the sale of oil to Russia will be spent on the purchase of Russian products, said Novak, adding that Russian companies will sign before 21 March several contracts for activities in the United States. Iranian oil fields.

Moscow and Tehran are currently examining the purchase of Russian Sukhoi Superjet 100 airliners (SSJ100).
