An Israeli army officer was pinned for his remarks about the assassination of Hezbollah’s secretary-general.
The Israeli daily Maariv strongly criticized a senior Israeli army officer who proposed the assassination of Hezbollah Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah.
“Such talk leads to an escalation of tension between Israel and Hezbollah and that is what we do not need right now. These threats are provocative. Who allowed him to speak like that? The decision to assassinate Nasrallah will have to be made by politicians and not by the military, especially since this decision is beyond the level of a mere officer. These words are pure bluster and it is easy to predict that Hezbollah and its leader Nasrallah will react. The army chief of staff must teach his people how to be quiet and how to stay within their limits, “the Israeli daily Maariv said.
Maariv finally concluded that the assassination of a resistance leader would not secure Israel’s security interests, but would threaten them even more seriously.
