Speaking at a press conference with his Croatian counterpart Maria Belzso Fonovic in Zagreb on Thursday, Zarif said he had held talks on the Syrian and Yemeni crises. “We stressed the need to reach a political settlement to the two crises. We believed that the raids in Yemen should be stopped and that Syria should move towards a political solution in Astana and Sochi, And to reach the cooperation of all parties to a political solution and the reconstruction of these two countries affected. ”
Zarif expressed his hope to further develop cooperation between the two countries and the private sector as well as enhance relations between the two peoples.
The Iranian foreign minister began a tour of several Balkan countries on Monday from Serbia and then visited Bulgaria and Croatia before leaving for Bosnia and Herzegovina, the last leg of his tour, accompanied by a high-level political delegation and an economic delegation comprising representatives of public and private sector institutions.
The Iranian foreign minister held talks with senior officials from the three countries of Serbia, Bulgaria and Croatia to discuss ways to develop bilateral relations and exchange views on important regional and international issues.
