Alwaght – Thousands of people protested in front of the US Embassy in Chile to express their refutation of the decision of US President Donald Trump who declared the city of Al-Quds (Jerusalem) the capital of Israel.
The march that was attended by some 2,000 people was suppressed by the special forces of Carabineros (militarized police).
The demonstrators met in Plaza Tribunales de Concepción, where they offered their support to the Palestinian people, shouting slogans with representatives of the Palestinian community in Chile, for the North American intervention in that territory.
The demonstrators were stationed on the sidewalk opposite the diplomatic headquarters, carrying hundreds of flags and several banners that read “Stop the Genocide”, “Palestine is free” and “Trump, Jerusalem is Palestine”, among others.
The city of Al-Quds was illegally occupied by the Israeli regime after the six-day war. In 1980 the Law of Jerusalem was created, by means of which this regime tried to annex the complete city like capital, which has been considered like a way to continue with its brutal policy to take control of Palestinian territory and a clear sample of its disinterest for the peace.
The declarations of Trump have unleashed several protests worldwide in defense of the quality of Al-Quds as the capital of the people invaded by the Israeli regime. Those that also add international rejection declaring the decision of Washington as a violation of international law by the Security Council of the United Nations.
