US Defense Secretary Jim Matisse

US Defense Secretary Jim Matisse said on Friday he had not seen evidence so far of the Syrian government’s use of sarin gas but the United States was considering reports on its use and was concerned about it.
Matisse claimed in statements to reporters that the Syrian government has repeatedly used chlorine gas as a weapon.
“We are more concerned about the possibility of using sarin … I do not have evidence, what I am saying is that other groups on the ground, NGOs and fighters have said that sarin gas has been used, so we are looking for evidence.”
A senior US official said on Thursday that the United States does not rule out military strikes in Syria after accusations of new chemical attacks in the country.
The official claimed that the Syrian regime and the organization of the preacher “continue to use chemical weapons,” while a second official said that the US president “does not exclude any” option, and that “the use of military force is always discussed.”
